Is Music Habituation Related To Genetic Factors?

The taste in music is one of the points that creates the most significant difference among the individual interests. People may not find enough time to read a book or have enough reading habit to notice what kind of books to like. In those days that cinema has dropped off the map, it's been proven that the habit of watching series is generally influenced by the circle of friends. But, music creates an inevitable habit because it becomes a background that could accompany people all day long. Well what is the thing that shapes a person's music taste?

The most important factor that affects an individual's music taste has been expounded as environmental factors. Being influenced by the social circle, the habit of listening to music acquired by the family from the early childhood years and being exposed to a spesific music genre are the environmental factors that shape the taste in music and the habit of listening.

In the studies carried out up to now, it's been marked that the music tastes of family members with poor communication are similar even though they are unaware of each other. Except that, it's also been marked that family members who share the same environment could have very different tastes in music. According to these results, genetic factors are effective at the rate of 50% in acqusition of musical habits and this rate can not be ignored; but it's also concluded that it wouldn't be sufficient for a clear result. Now it's considered about the factors that support or make insignificant the genetic factors could be individual's social circle, life philosophy and mental state. What kind of music do you like and do you really think you're affected by your genes?

Melancholy Tunes

Melancholy is like a shadow, follows your footsteps wherever you go. It's like a rain without rainbow, like a thunder without rain, like a rainbow in the night. It feels like something has left half-finished inside. Yet it's not clear whether melancholy is chronically flows in your veins or swings on your moods but it's obvious that there are something make better your melancholic moves, they're melancholy tunes.

Here, I picked up some sad songs to make you feel more blue but just make you sure that you're never alone! And please don't forget and hesitate to get professional support if you feel like there's something so wrong that you can't handle anymore.

The Legendary Drummer Charlie Watts Dies at 80.

Charlie Watts, legendary drummer of legendary rock band Rolling Stones, dies at the age of 80. According to resources Watts has been in hospital for a while, yet the certain cause of death is unknown.

Who is Charlie Watts?

The silent boy of Rock 'n' Roll was born in 1941, in London. Originally studied as a graphic designer, Watts later noticed his interest in Jazz music and started to take a part within Jazz and R&B bands. After meeting Mick Jagger and Keith Richards in 1962, his life changed forever and took his place in Rolling Stones next year. Although his work was in the middle of Rock 'n' Roll he never assimilated that kind of lifestyle, especially when it comes to relationships. Watts has always been faithful to his wife 'Shirley Ann' from their marriage in 1964 until his death. He's always been the calm-side of Rolling Stones and that's why he had a special place in the Rock History.

Behind A Story: Cat Stevens to Yusuf Islam

"I was once you are like now,

And I know that is not easy

To be calm when you've found something going on"

... says Cat Stevens in his famous 1970 hit "Father and Son".

Behind this incredible songwriting talent, Yusuf Islam has a very interesting life story. Maybe his miscellaneous perspective on life helped him to develop his artistic aspect.

                         Cat Stevens in 1971.

Born as Steven Demetre Georgiou in 1948 in London to a Cypriot father and a Swedish mother, known as "Cat Stevens", began his professional music career in London as playing in local pubs and events. Stevens released his debut studio album "Matthew and Son" in 1967. After he released  "Mona Bone Jakon" and "Tea for the Tillerman" in 1970, Stevens was globally known with his iconic 70's hits 'Wild World' and 'Lady D'Arbanville'. When he had an accident which had a life-changing effect on him he was at the height of fame and his popularity and living in a different lifestyle. Stevens was nearly drowning and he found a way out to life again after his prayers to God. After that day on, he decided to devote himself to God and converted to Islam as taking the name of "Yusuf Islam".

After almost two decades of hiatus at his musical career, Islam decided to go on in 1990s with a different style but made his come-back literally in 2005. Today, he still continues his career actively with his stage name "Yusuf / Cat Stevens" and lives a modest life with his family.
